Pivot Points: Creating A Culture Of Preparedness And Resiliency In America debuted on Amazon on August 24; many hope the book will foster a new conversation within the preparedness movement.

Pivot Points is not a "how to prepare for the end of the world" book.   It's a candid assessment of the state of the preparedness culture in America and what those in the movement might do to improve our nation's readiness.

For too long, preppers have been criticized for their beliefs and efforts to become better prepared.  It's time for preppers to become cultural change agents and begin the next evolution of the preparedness movement: creating a culture of preparedness in America.

This book challenges many of the traditional beliefs within the preparedness movement, taking the position that in the end, preparedness ought not be about just surviving the disaster.  Preppers need to be positioning themselves to become better citizens and leaders so that in times of crisis, they can be a part of the rebuilding process.  They need to be sharing their knowledge and undertaking their own preparedness service projects to help others become prepared as well.

Pivot Points contains interviews with psychology experts, analysis of various studies and surveys on our national readiness, and concrete suggestions on how the typical prepper can quickly become a leader in the resiliency movement.

Bracing for Impact: A Practical Guide to Preparing for Disasters originated from an informal discussion in 2010 between then-State Bar of Texas staffer Ann Kloeckner (now the Executive Director of Rappahannock Legal Services, Inc.) and Paul Martin during a break in a continuing legal education seminar.  Written primarily for lawyers, law firm administrators and small business owners, Bracing for Impact represents a different approach to preparing businesses for the possibility of various disasters which might impact their operations.  Instead of simply having some supplies set aside "just in case," Martin provides readers with a number of questionnaires and exercises for the law firm or business to complete in order to have a more robust preparedness plan.

This is a how-to book written free of esoteric flow charts and ambiguous guidance.  Readers will find numerous checklists, examples, and pragmatic suggestions to launch an effective disaster readiness program in their firm or business.
